Baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment to follow Jesus Christ. After we have taken a first step toward Christ by surrendering to Him as Lord and Savior, the next step is to be baptized. When we choose to be baptized, we are choosing to follow Christ’s example (Matthew 3:13-17) and to identify with him, his death, and his resurrection. It is a celebration of new life in Christ, and a public declaration of our new identity.
