Rooted: Growing in Christ - Part 4: Rest
March 25, 2025 • Brent Cummings • Genesis 2:1–3, Hebrews 4:9–10, Matthew 11:28—12:7
In Psalm 1, we get the picture of the person who is righteous and walking with God being like a healthy tree, planted in the ground by a stream, with roots going deep down in the rich soil towards the water, weathering whatever storms come, and bearing sweet fruit in season. This is how God made us and wants us to live. In our lives, we grow closer to Him by growing deeper. So in this series, we’re looking at three ways - otherwise known as “spiritual disciplines” - that we can grow deeper and closer in our relationship with God by being rooted in Him. In this message, we wrap up our series by looking at the spiritual discipline of rest. As young adults, we’re desperate for it in our culture, so where do we find it, why do we need it, and how can we live a restful life? Those are the questions we look to the Bible to answer as we aim to live with healthy rhythms of work and rest. We hope you’re encouraged by this podcast! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Rooted: Growing in Christ - Part 1: Prayer
February 25, 2025 • Brent Cummings • Luke 11:5–13
In Psalm 1, we get the picture of the person who is righteous and walking with God being like a healthy tree, planted in the ground by a stream, with roots going deep down in the rich soil towards the water, weathering whatever storms come, and bearing sweet fruit in season. This is how God made us and wants us to live. In our lives, we grow closer to Him by growing deeper. So in this series, we’re looking at three ways - otherwise known as “spiritual disciplines” - that we can grow deeper and closer in our relationship with God by being rooted in Him. In this first message, we take a look at what the Bible says about prayer. It’s such a huge topic, but in this one parable Jesus taught in Luke 11, He very clearly answers for us the three main questions about prayer: 1) what is it (really), 2) why should we do it, and 3) how should we do it. In answering these questions, we can start to build this practice into our lives not for the sake of earning God’s favor, but just because we want to spend time with Him and see Him move in our lives. We hope you’re encouraged by this podcast! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Knowing God Part 3: God is Good
January 28, 2025 • Brent Cummings • Exodus 34:5–9, Exodus 33:18–23
Some of the most important questions of existence are, “Who is God?,” and, “What is He like? What is His relationship towards humanity?” Thoughts of God are the highest our minds could comprehend, the highest subject of our conversations, the most important, driving force behind how we live our lives. And specifically, the question every young adult in Central Arkansas is asking themselves right now is, “If the God of the Bible is the One True God, why should that matter for my life?” So, in this series, we're seeking to experience a closer personal relationship with God because we better understand what He’s really like; His nature, character, attributes, and bent towards us. In this message, we take a look at the attribute of God that is the foundation for all the rest: His goodness. If God is good, then it means all that is good comes from Him, He alone can satisfy, and He has done something about the existence of evil. We hope you’re encouraged by this podcast! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Ruth: God’s Kindness in Redemption: Part 4
November 12, 2024 • Josh Clark
The book of Ruth is a beautiful love story. It’s full of tragedy & loss, despair & hope, triumph, loyalty, heroes, romance, kindness, & redemption. But Ruth is also more than just a love story- it’s a story within a story. Because it’s not just a story about Ruth, it’s a story about all of us, and a world in need of a Redeemer. And your story is a part of this story. It’s all about the kindness of people and how that points us to the kindness of God. Really, Ruth is a story about God’s kindness in redemption. Ruth: God’s Kindness in Redemption: Part 3: God's kindness in His love

In this third week of our series, we look at chapter 3, and see the love story between Ruth and Boaz take shape. Everything comes out in the open, their intentions are declared, and there's a glimmer of hope and excitement about what could be in the future. Exemplified in the relationship between Boaz and Ruth in this chapter, we see 7 biblical characteristics of true love that matter for us as young adults even today. Ruth: God’s Kindness in Redemption: Part 2: God's kindness in His provision
October 29, 2024 • Brandon Barnard • Ruth 2
The book of Ruth is a beautiful love story. It’s full of tragedy & loss, despair & hope, triumph, loyalty, heroes, romance, kindness, & redemption. But Ruth is also more than just a love story- it’s a story within a story. Because it’s not just a story about Ruth, it’s a story about all of us, and a world in need of a Redeemer. And your story is a part of this story. It’s all about the kindness of people and how that points us to the kindness of God. Really, Ruth is a story about God’s kindness in redemption. So in this message, Brandon Barnard, one of our Teaching Pastors, continues our series as we dive into chapter 2. In this next scene of the story, we meet Boaz, a godly man, and potentially the only person who can actually do something to help Ruth out of her destitution and poverty. We begin to see a relationship blossom between the two of them, and he provides food, safety, and security for Ruth. But the reason this story is in the Bible - the real story beneath the story - is to show us that God does the same thing with us. We hope you’re encouraged by this podcast! In this first message, we see how the story of Ruth actually begins not with Ruth, but with her mother-in-law, Naomi. Within the first few verses, when Naomi’s world comes crashing down, we are forced to ask the hugely important question, “Where is God in the midst of suffering?” Ruth 1 helps us begin to discover the answer. Kingdom Come - Part 6: " And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. ”
October 15, 2024 • Brent Cummings • Matthew 6:9–13
Each of us, deep in our hearts, has a desire to communicate with God. As young adults in our world today, we see the need and have the desire for a great prayer life. But how can we know our prayers are actually being heard and answered? Jesus in The Lord’s Prayer teaches us how. In this message, we wrap up our series by looking at the last request that Jesus teaches should be a part of the structure of our prayers: prayers for spiritual protection. Whether or not we're always conscious of it, we are all in a spiritual war. So, we need this prayer. But just like we’ve been doing every week in this series, we need to see exactly what it is we’re asking for when we pray like this. This is the way to pray Jesus is teaching us, so if we want to pray this request, we have to know: 1) who we’re fighting, 2) what we’re fighting with, and 3) how to fight. We hope you’re encouraged by this podcast! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Kingdom Come - Part 5: " And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ”
October 8, 2024 • Brent Cummings • Matthew 6:9–15, Matthew 18:21–35
Each of us, deep in our hearts, has a desire to communicate with God. As young adults in our world today, we see the need and have the desire for a great prayer life. But how can we know our prayers are actually being heard and answered? Jesus in The Lord’s Prayer teaches us how. In this message, we look at the fifth request of the Lord's Prayer, which is all about forgiveness. It's one of the most foundational truths of Christianity, and it might just be one of the hardest things some of us will ever do. But at the same time, it's one of the most freeing and life-changing things we could ever experience. So as young adults in today's world, full of brokenness and sin, we need to ask three big questions when it comes to this topic: 1) What is forgiveness according to the Bible? 2) How on earth am I supposed to do that? And 3) Why should I? We hope you’re encouraged by this podcast! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you!
