May 12, 2024 • Bruce Humphrey, Bethany Humphrey • Proverbs 31:10–31
On Mother's Day, we turn to Proverbs 31 to honor and understand the qualities of a godly woman. This passage describes her as virtuous and irreplaceable, worth beyond precious rubies. She is the proactive backbone of her family, making wise financial decisions and caring deeply for her household's prosperity.
Her compassion extends to the needy, and she is clothed with strength and dignity, facing the future with confidence. The sermon concludes with a challenge to embrace these virtues in our own lives, regardless of our roles, and to seek God's help in cultivating a character that reflects a true fear of the Lord.
Yet, her true beauty lies not in outward appearances, but in her fear of the Lord. Her heart is grounded in faith, and her life reflects the fruits of the Spirit.
As we reflect on Proverbs 31, we aspire to embody the virtues it extols: faithfulness, wisdom, kindness, and diligence. May we seek to honor God in all that we do, and may our lives be a testimony to His grace and goodness.
