Awakening to Help

March 17, 2024 • Bruce Humphrey • Luke 15:11–32

In the story of the prodigal son, a young man demands his inheritance from his father and leaves home to live recklessly. Squandering his wealth, he finds himself destitute and hungry. Ashamed, he realizes his mistake and returns home, hoping for forgiveness. He approaches his father humbly, admitting his faults and asking for help. Despite the son's betrayal, the father embraces him warmly, celebrating his return with joy and forgiveness. This parable illustrates the power of repentance, forgiveness, and unconditional love. It teaches us that no matter how far we stray, we can always turn back to seek help and redemption. The father's response exemplifies compassion and demonstrates the importance of second chances in relationships.
