For the first time as a church we are bringing our junior high students to Hume Lake for summer camp!!! A full week of fun events, deep friendship, great biblical teaching, amazing worship, at a beautiful location. This is a week you won't want to miss.
Our junior high group has had such a fun time at Winter Camp at Hume. One of our kids described the weekend as "a taste of heaven," and it was so true. As someone who has gone to Summer Camp at Hume Lake I can say it only gets better! So this time we are heading up to the Sequoia National Forest to Hume's main camp! Spending a full week in cabins with your friends having ridiculous amounts of fun and experiencing the love of God in powerful ways is hard to beat. I feel very confident that this might just be the best week of your child's life.
What grades are going:
This camp is for students going into 7th and 8th grade. Any current 8th graders can go to our High School Summer Camp July 6-12th.
Price/Scholarships:
The price of camp is $890. We understand that this is a high cost! Given this, we are only asking for $235 deposit up front. That deposit is non-refundable.
Hume provides scholarships through their website called "camperships" that every family will apply for when completing their registration with Hume (Anthem will send you this link). Hume will ask for financial information to see if your family qualifies. If your family does qualify, Anthem will be notified of the amount. This amount will come off of your total price for Hume and your final price will be adjusted accordingly.
For more info on camperships, visit Hume’s info page on it here.
Anthem will be doing some fundraising to help bring the cost of camp down. We also encourage our students to take initiative and get creative on ways to raise money for themselves and others to be a part of this amazing week.
You will be notified of what your child’s final amount will be by May 12th and final payment will be due May 19th.
If for any reason your student is unable to attend Hume, please let us know by May 22nd. If you fail to let us know by then, you will be expected to pay the full amount for camp even if your child is unable to attend.
If you have any questions on registering for camp please reach out to our admin, Courtney Javier, courtney@anthemchapel.com

We will meet the morning of June 22nd at 8AM at Anthem HQ (6595 Covington Way) to drop off students and we will return June 28th around 4pm. We will be stopping for lunch at an In-n-Out in Bakersfield at 2310 Panama Lane on the way up and back. The address of camp is 64144 Hume Lake Rd, Hume, CA 93628.

If your child is bringing medication or supplements, please send them in their original containers.
No Phone Policy:
There is no reception up at Hume Lake but we also have a no phone policy as a church because we want kids to get a week to just be kids away from distraction and give their attention fully to their faith, friendships, and fun.
Leadership and Safety:
This trip will be led by our Junior High Youth Pastor Monty Minchin. He has led three summer camps for us before and has been a leader at Hume eight times.
He will be joined by four more leaders from Team Zion, our young adult Junior High leadership team.
One of these leaders will be Leah Heffernan, who will serve as our lead female counsellor. She has led with us at our last summer camp and two winter camps. Previous to that she has served with youth in Santa Barbara for over four years with Young Life.
We will drive up in four vans driven by our adult leaders.
Hume Lake has professional nurses at camp to deal with any health issues or needs.
Medications:
If your child is bringing medication or supplements, please send them in their original containers.
Prescribed Medications, Vitamins & Supplements:
These will be collected and dispensed by the camp health center. We consider any vitamin, supplement, or over-the-counter therapy that is taken to treat a condition or maintain health to be a “medication”. We are not able to give a medication that we cannot identify and dose from the original container. Sending medication in anything other than the original container may result in the camper not receiving it.
Dietary Restrictions:
If your child has dietary restrictions Hume can accommodate gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian diets. Because of the high cost of providing for special dietary needs, there is an extra surcharge for these special diets that can be selected when signing up your camper at Hume's website.
