What is Christian nationalism, and what is it not?
Explore one of the most debated topics in American public life through the lens of history. This course examines the origins of the idea that the United States was founded as a Christian nation and must be reclaimed as such.
Led by Lumen Senior Fellow John Fea, author of Was America Founded as a Christian Nation: A Historical Introduction, this course equips participants to think critically and historically about religion and American public life. Together, we will examine the religious beliefs of the Founding Fathers, evangelical religion and the American Revolution, and how Christians should use the past responsibly in contemporary politics.
This course will take place on Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, from October 14 to December 9. There is no charge for the course or curriculum.
Note: Class will take place at an alternate location (TBD) on November 18 and December 9.
