Creative Arts at the Creek Mission

The mission of Creative Arts at the Creek program is to educate and produce well-rounded musicians and artists who worship God through excellence in their craft, sharing the gospel through teaching, performing, and equipping students of all ages, loving and serving the local community of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.


What are the current lessons being offered?

1st through 12th grade:

Piano

Electric bass

Acoustic guitar

Woodwinds

Flute

Reeds (saxophone, oboe, clarinet, etc.)

Brass (trumpet, trombone, French horn, etc.)

10 years and older:

Visual arts

Beginner

Intermediate

Need to have taken Beginner class previously OR have previous art experience

13 years and older:

Voice lessons

What is the registration process?

Registration opens in May (for Fall semester) and October (for Spring semester).

A non-refundable registration fee of $75 will be due at time of registration.

Availability will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. If slots are full, please see waitlist instructions below. 

When are lessons offered?

Private lessons will be weekly for a duration of 30 minutes each

Fall and Spring semesters

Fall semester: August - December

Spring semester: January - May

16 weeks of lessons each semester

End-of-Semester Recital (Spring Showcase or Christmas Concert)

How much will this cost?

$400 per semester + $75 registration fee due at the time of registration = $475 per student/per semester

The full cost of a semester of lessons will be paid in full by the child's first lesson

Sibling discount: For families with more than one child participating in lessons, the first child will pay the full price ($400) for each semester. Any following child will receive a 25% discount on cost per semester ($300). 

Who will be teaching the lessons?

Lessons are taught by experienced members of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and/or Holtville community. 

All teachers have been vetted by the Shoal Creek Staff and Creative Arts Director and have completed a background check through the church.

Teacher selection may be subject to availability and child(ren)'s level of experience. 

What are the expectations for the students?

All students and participating in the Creative Arts program will be required to attend the weekly lessons as well as perform in the end-of-semester recitals. 

Students will be allowed 2 make-up lessons per semester. After 2 make-up lessons, the teacher is no longer obligated to make-up any other missed lessons on the student's behalf. 

Absence do not result in any financial change or payment change. The tuition cost factors in the 2 absences. 

What if after registered and/or have started lessons we need to dropout or cancel?

Should a student wish to terminate their private lessons, the student/parent need to communicate this in writing to Creative Arts Director and the teacher. 

What if there are no available spots?

If the registration for the instrument or voice lesson is Full, please reach out to Hannah Clardy at hannah.clardy@shoalcreekchurch.org to be placed on a wait list. 

Should a student drop out mid-year, opening a slot for a waitlisted student to join, the waitlisted student will only be financially responsible for the remaining lessons of the semester in the amount of $25 per lessons. Full remaining payment will be due at first lesson.
