God chose to appear to the shepherds because they represent the lowly and humble, the proper reaction to Jesus, and the person and work of Jesus.
When God says "Nothing is impossible," we say "As you wish Lord."
God faithfully works despite our faithless moments.
Our future joy without sorrow sustains our present joy with sorrow.
