Control is a touchy subject for most people, as it causes a lot internal questions that we can't always answer, like:

- Why do we crave control?

- How can having control become an idol?

- What does it really mean to trust God when life feels uncertain?

Let’s face it—life throws a lot at us: unexpected illness, broken relationships, family struggles. While we may not cause these things, they can still impact us in big ways.

The heart of the message was this truth: Letting go of control is how we hold on to God.

1. Trusting God means surrendering control.

- Surrender is not weakness—it’s choosing to rely on God’s strength over our own.

- Trying to control everything leads to anxiety and burnout.

- God isn’t asking you to be strong - He’s asking you to trust Him.

- If you hate looking weak, that’s pride in your life.

- Definition of Trust: to confidently expect - expect that God is who He says He is, even when we don’t see it yet.

2. God’s plan is good—even when it doesn’t look like it.

- Trusting God doesn’t guarantee the outcome we want, but it leads to the outcome we need.

- Even when prayers aren't answered the way we hoped, God is still working—in the situation and in us.

- Knowing God’s good doesn’t always feel good. Our definition of “good” is limited, but God’s isn’t.

- He sees what He’s making new, even when we don’t see it. What if peace isn’t having all the answer, but is trusting in the Word of God

3. Real peace comes from trusting, not knowing.

- Our culture craves answers, but peace doesn’t come from understanding—it comes from trusting the One who does.

- Sometimes God won’t give us the “why,” but He always gives us His presence.

3 Practical Ways Your Student Can Practice Trusting God

1. Open up to God and trusted friends - This is why HUBs exist—community matters.

2. Let go of the need to fix everything - Practice giving situations to God through prayer.

3. Remember God’s past faithfulness - Reflecting on how He’s shown up before builds trust for what’s ahead.

We need to learn to open our hands, release control, and hold on tightly to Jesus—because He always shows up when we need Him most.
