Lessons for Living in Perilous Times

Abraham was an example for many of us to follow. In his time it was critical for him listening to the Father. Not only did he listen, he obeyed always with a good attitude. He hung on the promise given to him by God. As followers of Messiah, this is something we need to represent. Abraham also walks out the example of servant. After his circumcision he was still ready to serve and attend to the needs of God when He arrived. In order to be a leader you must first be a servant. God could have bypassed Abraham altogether in His mission to destroy Sodom but he felt it important to incorporate Abraham into His schedule. If we as His children serve one another and tend to the needs of others first, the Father doesn’t let our needs go unnoticed. In fact, at times that can be when He draws the closest because we are emulating the nature of Yeshua, which gives Him glory. The fact that God considered Abraham His friend compelled Him to share with Abraham his plans. The Father wants us to be on the same page with Him on His plans. Though He may not reveal everything at that moment He still prepares His people when He is about to move (Amos 3:7). God is and always shall be a merciful God. It is His will that we not only serve and listen but also that we may be victorious and prevail.
My Horn Is Exalted | Bill Cloud

Let’s consider that Yom Teruah is a memorial day — a day that we are commanded to blow the shofar, the horn. Some things we are commanded to do. Some things we are to remember to do. When God commands us to do certain things; God requires us to endure certain things. Tradition teaches us that Satan was allowed to test Job around this time. If He requires a certain behavior from us, He will remember us in the day of need. Even in the story of Hagar, when she and Ishmael were sent away. She cries out to God and He hears and acts on her behalf. Even though He knew what Ishmael would become, because he was Abrahams seed, God intervened. This ongoing theme is throughout the entire Word of God. How, if we who are called to do what we are commanded, He will remember those moments we acted on His behalf. Though it may have required great sacrifice during those seasons, He who calls you is faithful and will do it. Today, we sound the shofar. The horn represents a symbol of power and authority. Those things that you are still asking Him for, keep believing, keeping persevering and He will remember you. Join us for our Shabbat service with Bill Cloud and the Jacob's Tent Family! A Time to Rest

In this week’s portion, Moses states the choice of whether to obey God’s commands or not is the equivalent of choosing between life and death - blessing and curse. Death is synonymous with curses - the broad path that leads to destruction. Life is synonymous with blessing - one specific and narrow way that leads to it. In Chapter 12, the Father makes it a point to tell the Children to obey His instruction and commands regarding how to live in the land. There was a certain protocol for honoring the Promise God was giving to them. They were not to worship “nothing gods” or set up shrines to do so. “Nothing gods” are connected to demonic presence. Entertaining such spirits would subject them for the enemy to take up residence. We as His children must be absolute in refuting the enemy. We have been given the authority within our sphere of influence (or homes) to do so. If His Presence is to remain in our life and home, there are things He will not coexist with. We can’t afford to compromise our faith by allowing the enemy to have one inch of ground. The Father will not share His glory with “nothing gods.” There is a promise of rest for our labors but only after we have faithfully executed His Will in earth according to His purpose.
