Forgetting to Remember
December 16, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Genesis 41:1—44:17, Acts 1:4–8, 1 Corinthians 2:6–11, Philippians 3:13–14, Malachi 3:1
Mi’ketz is pregnant with prophetic overtones. In this portion we see a pattern for what happens “at the end,” and if a pattern, concepts we must remember as the days grow darker. First thing to note is “At the end of two full years” refers to the fact that two years passed since Jospeh asked the cupbearer to “remember me before Pharaoh.” For another two years, Joseph remained in the prison not knowing if he would get out. In a seemingly hopeless situation, it is easy to grow weary in well doing. Important that Joseph (and Jacob) was willing to submit to what God had ordained. we define things as bad or good based on how they appeal to flesh. As for Joseph, his suffering led to his family being restored in peace and in unity. Join us for our Shabbat service with Bill Cloud and the Jacob's Tent Family! With an Eye to the Future | Bill Cloud | Jacob's Tent
December 9, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Genesis 37—40
Join us at the 2023 Shine Your Light Hanukkah Celebration with our special guest Dr Hollisa Alewine, Bill Cloud, and the Jacobs Tent Family! Would seem God’s people are not purposed to sit quietly and be idle. Instead, we are to be about Father's business – we are to be light. Even in the Kingdom we will be about our Father's business. On that note, portion presents the “history of Jacob,” but focuses on Joseph, primarily. God has His eye on future; Joseph was destined to be carry purpose forward. It may be difficult for us to see ourselves as anything other than the imperfect person we truly are; but keep in mind, in Messiah, we are being perfected. Strive to look beyond today's circumstances and lay hold of the purpose God has for us all -- to be faithful to the call and let our light shine in this world, today and everyday. Lessons for Living in Perilous Times
November 4, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Genesis 19:23–25, Genesis 18:1–5, Psalm 15, Amos 3:7, 1 Corinthians 10:13
Abraham was an example for many of us to follow. In his time it was critical for him listening to the Father. Not only did he listen, he obeyed always with a good attitude. He hung on the promise given to him by God. As followers of Messiah, this is something we need to represent. Abraham also walks out the example of servant. After his circumcision he was still ready to serve and attend to the needs of God when He arrived. In order to be a leader you must first be a servant. God could have bypassed Abraham altogether in His mission to destroy Sodom but he felt it important to incorporate Abraham into His schedule. If we as His children serve one another and tend to the needs of others first, the Father doesn’t let our needs go unnoticed. In fact, at times that can be when He draws the closest because we are emulating the nature of Yeshua, which gives Him glory. The fact that God considered Abraham His friend compelled Him to share with Abraham his plans. The Father wants us to be on the same page with Him on His plans. Though He may not reveal everything at that moment He still prepares His people when He is about to move (Amos 3:7). God is and always shall be a merciful God. It is His will that we not only serve and listen but also that we may be victorious and prevail.
In The Footsteps of Abraham
October 28, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Hebrews 11:8–10, Genesis 14:17, Zechariah 14:2–3, Genesis 19:27–29, Genesis 12:1–6
In this weeks portion we see a new beginning - with Abraham. Through him God will begin to call forth His people that will be called Israel. Abraham’s life provides us a template of who we are regarding his seed. His journeys, his trials will reflect upon his descendants. Therefore, everything that happened to him should inspire us to have confidence in God. In his first trial he was told to leave the land of Ur. No reasoning, no time for contemplating, just to go. There will be times when the Father will ask us to do things without reasoning or contemplation. We are to act and respond, executing what we call faith. Abrahams journey demonstrates his desire to draw closer to the Creator. He “crossed over” into an unknown land trusting completely that the Father would provide everything he would ever need. God’s promises aren’t just for one person; they have long term goals and ramifications for our benefit. In striving to please the Father He exemplifies Yeshua. Even in this world of chaos it should give us all reassurance and peace that even through Abrahams trials the Father still took care of His own and preserved that which is precious to Him.
It's The End of The World and I'm Fine
October 21, 2023 • Stephen Lane • Genesis 6:8–11, Matthew 24:37, Deuteronomy 8:6, Genesis 6:14–16, Genesis 6:10
Noah was living in and doing what the Father had commanded him to do, surrounded by a fallen world. Yeshua said, “As it was in the days of Noah, so also shall the coming of the Son of man be." It’s not easy sometimes to do what is required of us but if we believe Yah, is it not our desire to obey His instructions - even if we’re still learning His ways? I believe God is still calling us out specifically to carry out our own personal “Ark” projects. Those crazy callings that only He can do through us. They are huge and monumental. Sometimes even daunting at times but He has called us to do things beyond our capacity to understand. We’re just supposed to obey. Though this world is waxing worse and worse, it is an indicator that we are also inching closer and closer to His return. Noah remained faithful building the ark even up to the very last minute of Gods reset. So too, we must continue to work towards the goal. Many will laugh and mock us and even at times try to inflict harm, still we press on. When we hear of wars and evil on the rise throughout the world, just remember Noah didn’t get side-tracked, he got busy doing Gods work. Allow the Father to speak to you of what that big thing is He’s wanting you to do. Don’t get disheartened, be encouraged because through you He will do a mighty thing.
Finding God's Purpose in Your Wilderness l Jeremy Doll
October 18, 2023 • Jeremy Doll • Daniel 10:2–14, Romans 12:12, Genesis 12:1–7, Genesis 37:23–28, Exodus 12:51
A season can be a trial, trouble or even the unknown. Your "Wilderness" can be a time when the you are relying on the Father to help grow and find your place through uncertain times. It can be a loss of a job, a broken marriage, a tragedy, so one and so on.. The Father uses these times to prune and purge us of unnecessary things so that we may depend on Him and walk in the calling He's placed upon our lives. He has placed specific desires in our hearts to pursue and fulfill, but these things do not happen without showing our constant faith in what He has set aside for us. It may not happen over night. It may even take years but rest assured He is watching and seeing how we respond in those seasons of trial and dependance. He will never show us the process of how He is working in our lives but He will never abandon us either. I feel if He did we'd give up on the Destination. He is however, crafting and shaping us into specific instruments to be used for a specific design that only we can do through Him. Whether it's sooner or later we have to decide by prioritize Him as the main focal point of our lives. Only then can we set out to fulfill our hearts desire and calling. And the Earth was Filled with Violence
October 14, 2023 • Bill Cloud • John 15:7–8, Matthew 15:13, Ecclesiastes 3:15, Isaiah 46:9–10, Genesis 1:1–13
In this portion we begin a new cycle. We should be reminded that at the end of one cycle a new one begins. There is always a reason for every season. Seasons work hand in glove with the Father’s purpose for everything. Even in the changing of seasons from Summer into Fall we see evidence of this by the response of those things living around us. These cycles and patterns are reflective of the Father’s process of things. B’reshiyt is seed from which all things come - physical and spiritual. We see in this portion the Father establishing boundaries for everything under the sun as creation unfolds. These boundaries serve purpose and remind us during this time if we overstep our boundaries or if they are ignored, chaos ensues. The beginning contains everything that will be present at the end. Light came out of darkness in the beginning and as we presently live in darkness, we know one day His Light will come forth in His glorious return. Until then, we occupy and abstain from idle hands. Even living in these dark times we know that His intended purpose will be fulfilled. My Horn Is Exalted | Bill Cloud
September 16, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Genesis 21:12–13, 1 Samuel 2:1–10, Jeremiah 31:1–18, Leviticus 23:24, Genesis 21:1–3
Let’s consider that Yom Teruah is a memorial day — a day that we are commanded to blow the shofar, the horn. Some things we are commanded to do. Some things we are to remember to do. When God commands us to do certain things; God requires us to endure certain things. Tradition teaches us that Satan was allowed to test Job around this time. If He requires a certain behavior from us, He will remember us in the day of need. Even in the story of Hagar, when she and Ishmael were sent away. She cries out to God and He hears and acts on her behalf. Even though He knew what Ishmael would become, because he was Abrahams seed, God intervened. This ongoing theme is throughout the entire Word of God. How, if we who are called to do what we are commanded, He will remember those moments we acted on His behalf. Though it may have required great sacrifice during those seasons, He who calls you is faithful and will do it. Today, we sound the shofar. The horn represents a symbol of power and authority. Those things that you are still asking Him for, keep believing, keeping persevering and He will remember you. Join us for our Shabbat service with Bill Cloud and the Jacob's Tent Family! A Time to Rest
August 12, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Daniel 10:20, Genesis 22:4, Deuteronomy 11:26—16:17, Matthew 18:8–9, Hebrews 3:17–19
In this week’s portion, Moses states the choice of whether to obey God’s commands or not is the equivalent of choosing between life and death - blessing and curse. Death is synonymous with curses - the broad path that leads to destruction. Life is synonymous with blessing - one specific and narrow way that leads to it. In Chapter 12, the Father makes it a point to tell the Children to obey His instruction and commands regarding how to live in the land. There was a certain protocol for honoring the Promise God was giving to them. They were not to worship “nothing gods” or set up shrines to do so. “Nothing gods” are connected to demonic presence. Entertaining such spirits would subject them for the enemy to take up residence. We as His children must be absolute in refuting the enemy. We have been given the authority within our sphere of influence (or homes) to do so. If His Presence is to remain in our life and home, there are things He will not coexist with. We can’t afford to compromise our faith by allowing the enemy to have one inch of ground. The Father will not share His glory with “nothing gods.” There is a promise of rest for our labors but only after we have faithfully executed His Will in earth according to His purpose. The Finger of God
August 5, 2023 • Bill Cloud • Deuteronomy 7:12—11:25, Luke 10:19, Luke 11:14–20, Ephesians 1:22–23, Genesis 3:5
When we walk in obedience, (submissive to His will) powerful things happen. The word ekev means the “reward” or “result” of obedience. The word akev means “heel” - indicating that which is underneath our feet. This hints at things that we must keep under submission — sin so easily besets us. To give into these things is beneath us; must tread with our “heel.” Messiah is called the Head of the Body, thus putting all manner of sin beneath his feet (heel). Consequently He has called us to be a people to perform His Will in the earth. What He is, we are supposed to be and reflect under His Kingship. When we listen to His judgements and do them, the result is reward. His love, His blessings are ours IF we submit to Him and do what He says to do. The emphasis of this portion is the beneficial consequences (reward) of fearing Him, loving Him and keeping His commands contrasted with the “rewards” of disobedience. We are to be the “head” and not the “tail.” The “fear” of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of God without fear is useless. Let us walk in a manner that is reminiscent of the way Israel walked. When we walk as Israel, the Adversary is placed under our foot (heel).
