These instructions affected the entire nation of Israel but functioned as a manual for priests concerning sacrifices. The same sacrifices covered previously with additional details for priests. צו tzav is the Hebrew word that means “to command.” This is related to word מצוה mitzvah. Previous to this we see phrases like, “speak unto…” or “say to...” This word emphasizes the extreme importance in doing things the right way. This is protocol for how we are to approach a holy God. Though we don't offer animals, shouldn't think we can approach in our way.
