It's interesting that during this time of year, the story of Joseph is being read during Hanukkah. The story of Joseph and certain themes converge in the Hanukkah story. We know we are to continue the Father's will in the earth despite opposition. Joseph was destined to be Jacob's heir. In order for people to fulfill their purpose, God's gives us the tools needed to achieve them. Messiah is the light of the world and yet calls us to light. He is the source but it is through his people that He advances His purpose. Gleaning from Hanukkah, He is the servant lamp and source of light. We are the branches who extend the light though we don't generate our own. We receive from Him and continue what He has initiated. "Seasoned for this Season"

Everything has a season and every season has a reason. We as a Body have to be able to discern the seasons and to know what to do in light of them. Knowing what the Bible says is not enough, as crucial as that is. It's understanding how to apply the truths of the Word to the issues of our day. In order to do that we must be able to grasp the patterns that God has given in Scripture. Regardless of the times, the purpose outweighs the person. We, as a people who continue to seek His righteousness, in time, can expect to be positioned in a place of honor and/or influence to do further good -- advance the purpose. In the coming days ahead we must remember that the true arena of our struggle with the adversary is not the battlefield, but the soul.
