Why Study the Book of Acts?
“To become a witness of Jesus to the ends of the earth.”
Author: Luke (Acts 1:1)
Audience: Theophilus (Acts 1:1)
- Theophilus - The one who is friend or who loves God.
- A person of influence or government
(Luke 1:3)
Canonization: Quickly accepted and widely used by the early church.

Several things to know about Acts:
1. Acts is the story of what Jesus is doing in the world.
2. When Jesus ascended to the Father, He promised that the Holy Spirit would empower God’s people to be witnesses of the good news.
3. The predominance of the divine element over the human is a remarkable feature of the book. (Note: Samuel Chadwick “The Way of Pentecost”)
