I guess when you break prayer down to it's bare essence, what we're doing is talking with God. But as with so many other parts of our relationship with God, there is a right way and a wrong way to pray. Do you know the difference? Too many people have the wrong motivation when they pray. Should we be trying to bet God too see things our way..... or should it be the other way around?
Praying Right
November 20, 2011 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:5–8
If you wanted to learn how to be a great golfer, someone like Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson would be a good choice for a teacher. If you wanted to be the pray-er you could be, wouldn't it make sense to turn to God for instruction? That's what we'll do today as we continue Pastor Lloyd's new series on prayer. We'll go right to the words of Jesus Himself, for some practical instruction on how to pray.
Prayer Model - Part 1
November 27, 2011 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:9–10
Today on Bridging the Gap, we'll examine the best way to communicate..... with God the Father, through our representative, Jesus Christ. Pastor Lloyd Pulley is currently sharing a series on the subject of prayer, and for the next four broadcasts, he'll be instructing us from the sixty six word prayer many have referred to as the Lord's prayer. It is to be used as a model for our prayer lives, and it's as if the Lord is saying to us, "Pray This Way."
Prayer Model - Part 2
December 4, 2011 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Matthew 6:11–13
Too many Christians approach prayer as a "wish list" of things we want God to provide. That is not what God has in mind! But at the same time, as we look at the latter half of the "Lord's Prayer" in Matthew six, we realize that we should go to God for our personal needs. Join us in Matthew chapter six as we join Pastor Lloyd Pulley for today's edition of Bridging the Gap.
Persistence in Prayer
December 11, 2011 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Luke 11:5–13, Luke 18:1–8
It's a funny thing about prayer. It's so very commonplace among Christians, yet our prayers are so often ineffectual. Why is that? Maybe we just don't know how to pray right - or more accurately how to pray the way the Lord would want us to. That's what this series is all about - learning to be more effective in our prayer life. One of the aspects of our prayer life we need to work on is being persistent. Do you pray about something once, wait for an answer and then forget about it? That's not the right way to pray!
Intercessory Prayer
December 18, 2011 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley
So often, prayer seems like one of the greatest weaknesses in the lives of many believers. We are pushed in so many different directions and are so very busy raising families, working, and even conducting ministry, that we often forget the greatest power we wield as believers - the power to seek the will of God in prayer.
In Romans 8:26 we are taught, "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Join Pastor Lloyd for this transformative, 8-part series on prayer, and learn how you can seek the Spirit of God to fill and empower your prayer life. You will be encouraged not only to pray, but also to expect to see the tremendous power of God as you pray. As you listen, recommit your life of prayer to the Lord. Commit to seek His will and direction every single day, and watch your very life change as a result.
How To Pray For Others - Part 1
January 8, 2012 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Ephesians 1:15–21
Have you ever had to give a speech before a large group of people? It can be a very nerve-wracking experience, right? The best way to successfully get through an important speech is to be prepared. Think before you talk. Choose your words well. Have you ever thought about how those guidelines can also apply to your prayer life? That's where we'll head today as we continue learning.
How To Pray for Others - Part 2
January 15, 2012 • Pastor Lloyd Pulley • Ephesians 3:14–21
How's your attitude today? How about your attitude toward prayer? We need to have an attitude of gratitude.... of always thanking the Lord no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in. Pastor Lloyd's series on prayer continues today, as we again look at the importance of praying for others, in Ephesians chapter three.
