Church Family:
We are continuing to partner with Calvary Chapel of Asheville, NC to provide enduring support to Hurricane Helene relief efforts in their community.
We are returning to Asheville to assist with reconstruction efforts from January 15th - 19th (Wed - Sun).
During this phase of support we will need adult (18+) skilled and general laborers to help with:
1) Electrical wiring
2) Plumbing
3) Drywall installation
4) Floor installation
5) Roof repairs
6) Food distribution center support
7) Financial support. If you would like to give financially, you can sign up to do that as well. Once you sign up, you will receive an email with directions on how to give online.
Travel time between Columbia and Asheville is approximately 8 hours one-way. Individuals are responsible for transporting themselves to and from Asheville. We will make effort to support those who desire/need to carpool based on which days you can travel.
Unlike the last trip, this trip individuals can come and go as they are available during the period of January 15th - 19th. During the signup, please indicate which nights you will need lodging at the church and which days you are available to work.
Team members should be prepared for austere sleeping accommodations and working environments. Temperatures will be cold. We will sleep on cots/mattresses on the floor of Calvary Chapel of Asheville and work in rugged terrain in the surrounding areas. Men have open-air showers outdoors. Women have a single indoor shower. Volunteers should be self-sufficient and physically fit to manage a variety of power and manual tools throughout the house of a full work day. Meals are provided by the church on a per-diem basis and CCEC will cover the cost of meals.
