The Toxic Belief of the Prosperity Gospel
May 27, 2018 • Aaron Lutz
About the Series: Beliefs are the software of the soul, so our entire lives operate according to our beliefs. Parents and others shape our beliefs so we can thrive as people. But some dangerous beliefs make their way into our lives through subtle or subversive means. These beliefs can twist our values, pervert our decisions, and poison our lives. In Toxic Beliefs, the CCCC teaching team will expose common toxic beliefs in our culture and call us to embrace the life-giving truth that replaces those toxic beliefs.

ABOUT THE SERIES: Promises. Promises. Promises. We all make them but do we all keep them? What about God and the promises he makes? For example, when he promises to save someone does that mean he will keep that promise all the way to the end? How can we be sure God’s promise to save is secure? In the latest series, The Faithfulness of God, the CCCC Teaching Team will look at what Romans 9-11 tells us about God’s promise to save his people. You might be surprised, amazed, and even overwhelmed to discover what he does to keep that promise.
The Beautiful Life and Fidelity

About the Series: The famous 19th century essayist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote that life is to demonstrate “some difference that you have lived and lived well.” To live well. How can we know that we’ve done exactly that? We see all kinds of cultural messages and images that paint conflicting pictures of what that life looks like. Indeed, many a life has been ruined by that exact pursuit. So what does the beautiful life really look like and how can we make steps toward it in a way that blesses instead of burdens us? In the CCCC message series A Beautiful Life, the Teaching Team will look to the book of Proverbs to see how God can lead us into a life that is lived and lived well!
The Weeds

About the Series: Seems like everyone has opinions about what God is like and about the kind of people God loves. But, are they right? Jesus often began with the phrase, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like…” then told a simple story revealing the true character of God. These stories, called parables, expose and confront how mistaken we often are about both God and his Kingdom. The parables reveal God as more loving and gracious than we ever imagined! “It’s Like This…” will invite you to rethink your understanding of God and encourage you to draw near and learn more about him.
Identity in Christ

About the Series: Love. Career. Kids. House. Sports. Retirement. Education. Money. The things we strive for are constantly jockeying for position. How do we decide what is most important? Who or what deserves our time? But what if we’ve been thinking about this all wrong? What if we’ve let the important things in life override Jesus Christ, the greatest of all things? Paul’s letter to the Colossians declares that life with a “less than" version of Jesus only works for so long. In our series Jesus is Greater, we will examine what it practically looks like to live believing that Jesus truly is GREATER.

About the Series: "Let my people go!" With those words, God demonstrated to his long-suffering people that he keeps his promises, is all-powerful, and will deliver them into a freedom they only could have imagined. Many think of Exodus as a story of miracles like a burning bush, plagues of judgment, and a sea split in half. But that’s to miss the big truth that Exodus is written for God’s people today! To know the story is to see that the God of Moses has continued to work well after Moses to “let his people go” from a greater bondage by a greater grace – a grace we see and are blessed by in the story of Exodus.
