Just as skipping the first chapter of a book can make it difficult to understand the rest of the story, we need to read the beginning of Luke to understand the events leading up to Jesus’ birth. He offers five additional truths we can glean from their experiences, which can help strengthen our faith today. The angel told Zechariah, “Do not be afraid,” and that’s a powerful reminder to us, too. We do not need to fear because the Lord is with us, He has a plan, and He will accomplish His purposes—just as he did over 2,000 years ago when Jesus was born.
