Set Apart: Living a Holy Life
This message is brought to you by Pastor Darryl Morrison
Main Scriptures:
1 Peter 2:11-25; 1 Peter 3:1-7
Thrust:
As believers, called to be holy and set apart, we must realize and acknowledge the fact that our conduct means a lot to God and unbelievers.
Watch how you live because they are.
Points:
1. Abstain: from fleshly lusts vs. 11-12
- These things weaken our soul/spirit.
2. Maintain: Good Conduct Amongst Unbelievers v. 12
- Causes unbelievers to glorify God when He comes to them.
3. Submit v. 13
- Subject and submit ourselves to every ordinance of man. For the Lord’s sake
--Submit to the Government (vs. 13-17)
--Submit ti Authority (vs. 18-25)
--Submit to Relationships (1 Peter 3:1-7)
Summary:
Our conduct as set apart believers has tremendous Kingdom ramifications for ourselves and others. Peter taught us that if we are to live our lives holy and set apart, it means we will abstain from fleshly lusts, maintain a good and Godly life on the daily, and submit/subject ourselves to earthly authority based upon our reverence for God. When we do this, our spirits are strengthened, unbelievers are saved, God’s will is accomplished, our actions are commendable before Him, and our prayers are released.
