The Day God Sang

April 26, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 1:24–31

On day 6 or creation there is some phrasing in verse 27 that gives us a repetitive poetic pattern that leans into a thought that the day God sang was the day He created man. One commentator states: The making of man is so ushered in as to show that at length the work of creation had reached its perfection and ultimate goal. This first chapter of Genesis is the chapter of mysteries, and just as “the wind of God” in Genesis 1:2 was the pregnant germ which grew into the revelation of the Holy Ghost, so in Elohim, the many powers concentrated in one being, lies the germ of the doctrine of a plurality of persons in the Divine Unity. It is not a formal proof of the Trinity, nor do believers in the inspiration of Holy Scripture so use it. What they affirm is, that from the very beginning the Bible is full of such germs, and that no one of them remains barren, but all develop, and become Christian truths. There is in this first book a vast array of figures, types, indications, yearnings, hopes, fears, promises, and express predictions, which advance onwards like an ever-deepening river, and when they all find a logical fulfillment in one way, the conclusion is that that fulfillment is not only true, but was intended.

God So Loved Mankind

May 3, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 2:1–17

In I John 4:8 the apostle states: "God is love." Yes, He is! His love rests firmly upon His creation. In Genesis chapter 2 we find our Creator God showing his love to mankind in various manifestations of provision. He's got the whole world in His hands. He's got you and me, sister/brother in His hands!

God So Loved The World That He Gave

In Genesis 1:4,10,12,18,21,25 And God saw that it was good. 1:31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. 2:18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” The woman was to be a reflected image - a completion to make the whole. A counterpart suitable to his nature and his need. As we celebrate mothers we see the wonder of God's amazing plan of salvation.

Here Comes The Bride

May 17, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 2:18–25

Knowing not everyone is keen on scheduling marital counseling, Genesis 2:18-25 gives us a marker for marriage as we see the first wedding. In this first wedding God establishes the principle for this loving, lifelong covenant.

No Trespassing

The fall of man and entrance of sin into the world changed everything in how man now relates to God. When we understand what happened in the garden of Eden we appreciate what was done on the Cross of Calvary.

Where Sin Abounds Grace Abounds More

HUMAN LIFE is a consecrated gift of God and the basis of FAMILY. Cain took matters into his own hand and slew his very own brother out of preference for himself, despicable jealousy because God blessed and accepted Abel’s offering and not his own. The way of Cain is one of a proud heart unaltered by the grace of God. Build an altar that you may be altered! Cain built no http://altar...he built a city. Cain didn’t seek http://god...he fled from the presence of the Lord. Cain taught his kids hard http://work...but nothing of the Lord. You CAN do both BUT if you only do one BE POOR and SERVE GOD. Riches cannot save. Riches cannot satisfy.

The Living Years

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it.” MEANING - Dedicate + Dictate = Achievement This morning we are going to take a look at three early personalities who fathered well. They fathered differently but well. They fathered well because they dedicated their children to the Lord and were dedicated to the ways of God having achieved the unmerited favor of God’s grace in their lives. We father well when we recognize the grace of God, receive the grace of God, and relay the grace of God to the next generation.

Finding God's Grace

June 28, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 6

Before God brought the cataclysmic change of the flood He told us why. When He did we got a lot of information about how important marriage is to Him, found out about some giants, but ultimately how that Noah was graced by our glorious God.

The Ark of Safety

July 5, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 7

In last week's message from Genesis 6 we learned that the Lord was not just destroying the earth and its inhabitants but hitting the reset button and working to restore His creation in His grand message of reconciliation. The narrative of Noah and the Ark is one that often brings thoughts of a children’s story about exotic animals lining up and getting on board a big boat. While it is a foundational bible account good for kids to learn it definitely contains eternal truths to which we all should attend as we look at the Ark of Safety from Genesis 7. The Ark of Safety is particularly enlightening when we see its correlations with the Cross of Christ.

Worship While Waiting

July 12, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 8

Ever feel forgotten by God? How do you think Noah felt after being quarantined inside the Ark for 364 or more days. Yes! A whole year and possibly more. No doubt that is the reason chapter 8 of Genesis begins with the words: "And God remembered Noah." Our LORD is committed to His covenant community of faith. We face challenges and dark days, but friend we can faithfully worship our great God because He always remembers us!

After The Flood

July 19, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 9:1–17

The cataclysmic event of the flood was an act of God to reset mankind and put him on a trajectory of God's design. When Noah and his family disembarked the ark after the flood there is a wonderful exchange of covenant blessing between God and man. The Lord presented a plan of government to man and provided a promise of His care and picture of His grace.

Chain Reaction

July 26, 2020 • Pastor Greg Wagoner • Genesis 9:18–29

The text leans into a couple of poignant concepts that are weighted with feeling. When the time comes at the conclusion of this sermon I ask of you to prayerfully ready yourself for the subject matter and not allow an emotional charge cause you to deflect the truth of God’s Word because of your pre-conditioned or usual response to these explosive topics. Because that which triggers you is that which tells on you. “How’s that for a setup?” LOL
