Mark 3:20-35

A House Divided

September 26, 2021 • Pastor David Rosales • Mark 3:20–35

All of us have experienced division in one form or another. There are divisions within our friendships, divisions within our homes and families, and sadly we see division within the church.

In Mark 3:25 Jesus says to the Scribes, “If a house is divided against itself that house cannot stand.

Why did Jesus say this? Up to this point Jesus had been performing miracles and casting out demons, and since the Scribes could not deny the miracles they were witnessing, they attacked the very source of His power. The people were openly wondering if Jesus was Messiah but were still unconvinced. When they asked, “could this be?” the Scribes encouraged them to doubt. Even they saw the evidence of His authority but were unwilling to accept Him as Messiah.
Whenever there is a good work of the Lord going on, we can expect those to come and try to disprove, to discredit and to bring division. This is what the Scribes were attempting to do. The simple fact is division undermines effectiveness and breaks down unity.

In this teaching, Pastor David takes us through Mark 3:20-35 and takes a closer look at how the Scribes unsuccessfully try to disprove, discredit and bring division against the great work Jesus was doing.
