In our modern culture, truth has been redefined. According to many people truth is relative and not absolute. But we cannot survive as a nation of laws until truth is once again embraced as absolute. Even when truth is accepted as absolute, it muse be administered with mercy or it becomes harsh and cold.
So, what is mercy? Mercy results from an understanding of grace with the goal of the individual’s restoration. While punishment for breaking the law must be enforced, there must be an element of mercy involved with restoration being the goal of punishment. Yet, just as justice administered based only on truth without mercy can be harsh, the administration of justice with mercy but without truth quickly becomes license.
The connection of the proper administration of justice from God’s perspective cannot however be executed without a personal understanding of the grace of God as the author of truth (just and merciful) within the context of a Biblical Worldview and God’s grand plan of redemption through Jesus Christ His Son.

Psalm 1 is the introductory Psalm to the other 149, the gateway to the entire Psalms. It is powerful citing two paths in life. One that produces blessedness and life. The other death. Psalm 1 is for all people of all ages. It speaks to us today. It identifies what the blessed men does and doesn’t do. It identifies what the blessed man will be like and by application how we can be like the blessed man. Also, it identifies what the ungodly or evil man is not. It concludes by saying that the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Stay tuned as Sam and Isaac consider the important theme, “Blessed is the Man - Psalm 1”.
