10 Principles to National Renewal: A Virtuous Education of the Youth - Part I

November 28, 2021 • Sam Rohrer, Isaac Crockett

America’s Founders used the word ‘virtuous’ to describe the type of educational experience children in a free nation must get if God’s blessing were to be experienced. It was Benjamin Franklin who said in 1750, “Nothing is of more importance for the public good, than to form and train up youth in wisdom and virtue.” Nearly 100 years before in 1682, William Penn of Pennsylvania said, “That, therefore, which makes a good Constitution (societal fabric), must keep it, vie: men of wisdom and virtue, qualities, that because they descend not with worldly inheritances, must be carefully propagated by a virtuous education of youth.” Stay tuned as Sam and Isaac consider the important theme, “10 Principles to National Renewal: A Virtuous Education of the Youth.”

Stay tuned as Sam and Isaac continue to look at the topic, “10 Principles to National Renewal: The Necessity for Continual Prayer.”

Prayer is actually the initial principle that started our Founders search for a new nation, a shining city on a hill, and William Penn’s holy experiment in self-government. It’s what undergirded our early nation in its time of need when separating from England. It’s the point to which our leaders were driven in times of national crisis. It’s what is conspicuously absent today in what is perhaps our nation’s greatest time of turmoil and calamity. It’s the electricity which turns on the lights and allows the light to shine both within and to the world without. Stay tuned as Sam and Isaac consider the important theme, “10 Principles to National Renewal: The Necessity for Continual Prayer.”

In Deuteronomy 6 God told parents and fathers specifically that it was their job to ensure that their children were trained in the fear and admonition of the Lord. He identified both the content and the reason for it. When it comes to the education of the youth, both God and the Devil, the righteous and the evil equally understand the high stakes of this process of education. God identifies the right content, the right process, and the right reasons for educating a child to fear and obey God. The devil and all who reject God have always tried to subvert the content, process, and reason because a virtuous education always leads to freedom, a knowledge of God, and spiritual life through faith in Jesus Christ. A virtuous education always leads to national prosperity, civil freedom, respect, and blessings abundant.
