Courage Challenges

In a culture that is always “countering Christianity,” are you grounded in what you know and believe? In a church world that is filled with impressionable youth, are you demonstrating “courage in crisis” trading comfort for commitment? Joshua had some experience, but he wasn’t fully experienced. Joshua had some influence, but he wasn’t a leader of this magnitude before now. We need to realize that every great leader had a beginning; he was given the opportunity to lead! Remember that reality when you hesitate to trust someone when the only thing that they lack is experience. It was Joshua’s time! Is it your time to lead?

The Winning Formula

When we experience some form of success, it is easy to “forget” God. We start reading our own “press clippings,” and we think that we’ve done something special, when in fact, it was God who did it through us! One of the most important principles to live by is dependence on God. We are incapable of spiritual success without him.

Consulting God Every Single Time

When life is good, it becomes increasingly easier to ignore God. There is money in the bank. Our kids are achieving in school. Our spouse is happy with us. Life is good, and we don’t need God! Now, we would never say that; it’s just that we start behaving this way. This is the exact trap that Joshua and the leaders of Israel fell into…headfirst!

When People Let You Down

We must remember that we do not make decisions in a “bubble.” Lives all around us are affected by our daily decisions. We also need to remember that people are going to let us down as we are leading them. Remember, our strength is not in our abilities but in the Lord Most High! People will let you down. It will hurt you. It will hurt others. When this happens, stay focused and keep leading the “team!”
