This trip is great for anyone 11+ at Grace who wants to grow in seeing and serving others. We will have the opportunity to do serve in (1) Homeless Ministry: Hit the streets to build relationships with the homeless. This could look like bringing snow cones and setting up a game of checkers or sitting and getting to know people. Teams will also have the opportunity to serve in homeless shelters. (2) Work Projects: This summer, the church is building a playground at a local public school and your team may get to be part of the process. (3) Refugee Ministry: As a gateway city Chicago has a large population of refugees awaiting confirmation of their official refugee status. You may have the opportunity to work with local churches to provide basic necessities like clothing (most only have what they could carry), showers, laundry, and meals to some of the many refugees in the city.
