The first New Year celebration was established by God for his people to remember and celebrate his salvation from captivity and his supremacy over all creation. But somewhere down the line, we made it more about the behavior of celebrating than the Person we’re worshiping. Through Jesus’ New Year celebrations we learn that God is more concerned about who we believe him to be than he is about what we do for him.
