May 13 is the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three shepherd children in the small village of Fatima in Portugal in 1917


What happened?

•During World War I, the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta, in the

•village of Fatima, Portugal.  

•The apparitions took place six times between May 13 and October 13, 1917. 

•Mary asked the children to pray the rosary for world peace, an end to World War I, and the conversion of

Russia. 

•Mary also told the children about her concerns about war, starvation, and persecution of the Church in the

20th century. 


What is the significance?

•The Feast of Our Lady of Fatima is a significant day in the Catholic Church. 

•The Feast reminds us that faith and prayer can bring about change. 

•The Feast encourages people to pray for peace in the world and in their hearts.
