Radical Devotion
March 8, 2026 • Pastor Alex Duran • Acts 4:1–22
This message from Acts 4:1–22, preached by Pastor Alex, reminds us that the authority of the risen Christ cannot be silenced by any human power. After Peter and John healed a lame man and boldly proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus, the religious leaders arrested them in an attempt to stop their message. Yet their efforts only highlighted the power of the Gospel—about 5,000 people came to faith.
When brought before the Sanhedrin, Peter courageously declared that the man had been healed by the power of Jesus Christ and that salvation is found in no one else. Despite threats and pressure from the authorities to stop preaching, Peter and John stood firm, proclaiming that they must obey God rather than men.
Pastor Alex also pointed to the example of Martin Luther during the Reformation, showing how throughout history human authorities have repeatedly tried—and failed—to silence the truth of the Gospel.
This message challenges every believer to consider who truly governs their life and calls us to stand with courage, speaking boldly about the exclusive authority and saving power of Jesus Christ, even when facing pressure or opposition.
