God's Heart, Our Hands

An ambassador has been defined as someone who lives in one country while representing another. Their real home and citizenship are elsewhere, but task calls them to live abroad representing a different government. The Bible calls us ambassadors. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians that we are ambassadors for Christ. Our home is here, but it is also there. Our mission is here, but our orders come from another place. We have a mission and a purpose. We are ambassadors for Christ and His kingdom.

A Future and a Hope

As we approach a season of Thanksgiving some of us are finding it hard to be thankful. Fear cripples, anxiety paralyzes, many people are looking at an uncertain future with foreboding and dread. Many of us are afraid. Afraid of what is happening in government, afraid for our health and the health of our loved ones, and afraid of the economics. What will the future bring? Is there a reason to be thankful? Yes. Now more than ever. Knowing how and why to be thankful is the key to being thankful in all circumstances and being thankful is the key to real joy. During this month of missions we have tried to refocus on our identity and purpose as the people of God. We have been reminded of not only what Calvary is here for, but of who are as God’s people, where we are, and why God has us here for this season and this time.

Our City Our Mission

We are living in unsettled times. We are living through the most extraordinary of years, facing difficulties and challenges many of us never dreamed we would face. We stand 2 days away from an election, which we all sense will shape our future in some meaningful ways. All elections are filled with fervor and passion, and yet the volume has never been louder and many, on both sides of the aisle, view the other as an existential threat to our future liberties. Yet here we are, God’s people with a divine mission. Has our mission changed? Are we even sure what it is?
