Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent - which is a period of 40 days before Easter (not including Sundays). It is a time in which Christians prepare themselves for Good Friday by owning their sin and seeking a season of spiritual renewal and cleansing. All are invited to participate in this season. We are crucified with Christ, and it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us.
