Scripture: “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” Galatians 6:9-10

Observation: Have you ever found yourself waiting on a promise from God or waiting for His plan to be revealed? Maybe God has already revealed the path you are to take, but you are waiting for Him to tell you it is time to take those next steps. Waiting can be challenging. Especially when you are seeking the Lord’s will and working hard on something good and worthy, but it feels as though you aren’t hearing a response or seeing a change. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul reminds us that if we do not give up, not only does God promise we will reap a harvest of blessing, but He also promises we will reap our harvest at the right time. God’s timing is always perfect. While we can’t choose the timeline, we can choose to trust God’s promises. Paul goes on to explain how we should wait, writing that in the waiting we should do good to everyone. When we do good we let the Spirit work through us instead of working in our own strength. We surrender our will to His.

When I feel discouraged or lost while waiting for God’s will to be revealed, I can find hope in God’s promises. If I continue to show up, seek Him, and trust God’s word, my harvest of blessing is promised. Though I may want to reap my harvest today, I will trust God’s timing and will focus on finding opportunities to do good for others. I know that in my waiting, God is shaping me into the person He has called me to be.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word- that instead of relying on feelings, I have Your scripture to anchor me to truth. I know I can find myself wanting to rush through the unknown. Remind me of Your promises; that You are working in ways I cannot see. When I feel discouraged, give me patience in the waiting. Help me to see ways I can do good. Guide me to Your people and show me how I can serve them. I am grateful for Your wisdom and I trust the plans You have for me. Amen.
