The Northwest is home to some of the most magnificent forests on Earth. They stretch along the Pacific coast from the Redwoods of Northern California to Glacier Bay in Southeast Alaska. To the east, they extend into the Northern Rockies. In recent decades, forest scientists have learned a great deal about how our forests function as ecosystems, revealing remarkable design and irreducible complexity.
