The Book of Jonah is the only book in the Bible that ends with a question in chapter 4. That question is one God asks Jonah that focuses on how much He loves people. There’s a Hebrew word in the beginning of Jonah chapter 4 that can best be defined as benevolent love. To be benevolent is to give freely and without bias. This is what God’s love looks like and, once we receive it, we are called to extend it to those around us…especially the people we might be tempted to call our enemy.
