This B-Side is a conversation between Pastor Josh and Pastor Rick, recorded before the Sunday sermon on 1/25...

The Sunday sermon will be about the changes of clothing of Jesus in John 18 and 19, during the crucifixion.

Parallels are drawn between the high priests of the Old Testament and the new high priest, Jesus. The pure white clothes of the transfiguration are discussed. The purple robes they put on him at the crucifixion signify high priest, king and prophet; he's the only one to fill all three roles.

Clothing means authority in the Old Testament.

We "put on" or "wear" Christ, and he "wears" us.

Noah's sons supported his authority, even in the moment when he's naked in his tent; Ham wants to usurp Noah's authority, and the two sons put his robe on their shoulders and walk backwards, tacitly showing support of Noah's authority.

Parallels are shown between Jesus and Joseph with his coat of many colors.

Isaiah 6... the edge of God's garment fills the temple with glory.

The woman who grabbed the hem of Jesus' garment is discussed.

Malachi 3... there's healing in the wings (edges of the clothing) of the Son of righteousness.

John the Baptist is clothed in camel skin, as Elijah; they shared the authority of prophet, which can only be gifted, not taken.

The idea of Absalom's similarity to Satan is discussed.

Genesis 3... Adam and Eve clothe themselves with the garden, but God clothes them like the beasts, as they're following the beast. At the end of the Bible, Jesus clothes his people in white linens!

Ruth and Boaz are discussed.

In the Old Testament, those in high positions showed respect for their office by dressing as prescribed for that office. Pastor Josh takes his office of Pastor seriously, and intends for his wardrobe choices to show respect for-- and reflect the seriousness of his commitment to-- the office God has given him.
