Hesed love is mercy, grace, kindness, loving kindness, or steadfast love. Ultimately, hesed is deeply connected to the ancient world’s concept of covenant or contract. It is a loyal love—it means to bind oneself to another and to unselfishly seek the welfare of that person with unwavering loyalty and allegiance. It is not a turbulent, fickle emotion or a warm-fuzzy sweetness. Hesed is a fierce commitment that will not give up on the object of its love. Skye Jethani “In essence, Jesus is saying that what God wants to see in our lives He initiates by the things He is already doing for us! He is doing for us what He wants us to do!!” Myron Augsburger
