Throughout Scripture, the Solemn Assembly has been about the intentional gathering of God’s covenant people as one body on special occasions in order to seek the face and favor of God through repentance, through renewing their fellowship with Him, through relying on Him in time of great danger, through requesting wisdom from Him in time of need, or through celebrating together a great a victory that was given by Him. See passages such as Deuteronomy 16:8, Ezra 8:21-23, Esther 4:15-16, Joel 1:4, and Joel 2:15, just to name a few. The Solemn Assembly was always about having a fresh encounter with God that would result in His people fully following Him and trusting Him with their whole hearts.   Therefore, we too as a new covenant body of believers are committed to seeking the face and favor of God through this congregational Solemn Assembly in order that the Lord may cleanse us, change our hearts, and carry us into even greater things as we commit to fully following Him and trusting Him with our whole hearts.   During these two weeks of Solemn Assembly we will fast and pray together as we seek God’s face together. The fasting will begin daily at 3pm and end at sunrise of the next day. Remember, Fasting is a spiritual discipline that is designed to draw us closer to God. Always pray through your choice of what you will choose to fast (i.e.-Television, Social Media, Telephone, Coffee, Sex, or Food). If you choose food, please consult with your physician or a health professional to determine your ability to make a dietary change such as fasting.
