RETHINKING SEXUALITY EVENT The focus of this event is to equip Christian men and women to address sexuality in a way that represents God's love and truth. Dr. Juli Slattery writes, “One day it dawned on me. We have been sexually discipled by the world!” We believe it’s time to change that.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Sexuality in today’s world is one of the largest roadblocks to faith in Christ. The LGBT revolution, widespread porn use and addiction, the hook-up culture, sexual abuse and trauma... these each represent pain that keeps people from trusting God for salvation and Christians from following Jesus as disciples. Most people, including Christians, simply can’t make sense of God and sexuality. By contesting long-held cultural paradigms, the Rethinking Sexuality event prepares you to view how sexuality is rooted within the broader context of God’s heart and His work for us on earth. It provides a framework from which to understand the big picture of sexual challenges and wholeness and helps you recognize that every sexual question is ultimately a spiritual one. It shifts the paradigm from combating sexual problems to confidently proclaiming and modeling the road to sacred sexuality.
There is no area of humanity in which the church is more ill-equipped than teaching holy sexuality. We have a long history of silence about sexuality, and when we have addressed it, we’ve categorized and shamed people. When sex becomes confusing, God becomes confusing. The Lord will give us wisdom to turn this tide... to equip and mobilize the church to have sexual conversations that exalt Jesus as Savior, Lord, and Healer. We call this model Sexual Discipleship®. Instead of arguing with the world about what’s right and wrong about sexual choices, this practical teaching by Dr. Juli Slattery equips you to share the love and grace of Jesus as you encounter the pain of sexual brokenness--your own or someone else’s.
"These events served as a powerful way to bring this discussion to our churches. It generated excitement and diminished the fear around discussing the complex issues of sexuality." -- Rethinking Sexuality event pastor
WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR? We believe this is a conversation in which every church needs to engage. The teaching is geared toward Christian leaders, parents, and every Christian who desires to be grounded in a biblical understanding of sexuality
