Hearts for Sewing is a group that sews dresses, feminine hygiene kits and boy's shorts for children in African countries. The group meets from Noon-3pm the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month. If you have a sewing machine, you can bring it and help sew. Helpers without machines are needed to help cut fabric, put in elastic, pin bias on, iron, etc. All are welcome to come help. The door to the lower level by the nursery is open to make it easier to bring your sewing machine in.
What is normal aging behavior? Where can I turn for help? How can I cope with my guilt? Does anyone understand how I feel? If you struggle with any of these questions, this group may be for you. Our support group for Families & Friends of Aging Adults is designed specifically for those who are caregivers to older adults, and provides an opportunity to gather information, gain answers and grow. 2024 Speaker Schedule Feb. 20 | Liz Barnett, Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan, “The Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan: Services Offered” March 19 | Sarah Wendling, Pine Rest Older Adult Services, “Activities and Engagement for Persons Living with Cognitive Limitations” April 16 | Dr. Richelle Payea, Pine Rest Older Adult Services, “Depression and Anxiety Treatment in Dementia” May 21 | Dr. Carol Robinson, So We May Know, “Setting Sail in Uncharted Waters: How to Navigate Serious Illness, Resources and Conversations” June 18 | Rosemary Apol-Hoezee, Atrio HHC, “Positive Approaches to Care” July 16 | Dr. Nicole Buozis, Pine Rest, “Caregiving: Managing Stress, Depression and Anxiety” August 20 | Noelle Partee, Pine Rest Older Adult Services, “Safety for Aging Adults: What You Need to Know” Sept. 17 | Dr. Scott Halstead, Pine Rest, “Neuropsychological Testing; Getting a Proper Diagnosis and Deciphering Results” Oct. 15 | Catherine Jacobs, Warner, Norcoss and Judd, “Planning for Long Term Care, The Do’s & Don’ts” Nov. 19 | Claire Fisher, Alzheimer’s Association, “Advancing the Science: The Latest in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research”
