Its combination of Art, Religion & Money made it in modern terms, the equivalent of the wealth of the Swiss banks, the religious power of the Vatican, the advertising potential of the Super Bowl, and the importance of all the world museums combined. People flocked from all over to visit this destination, seeking answers.
