Peter was one of Jesus’ twelve apostles. He lived and worked with Jesus for about three years. Sometimes Peter was very bold. Other times he was weak and afraid. But Peter learned how to follow Jesus and stay close to Him. Today and for the next few days, we will learn more about Peter, what he did in the book of Acts and what we can learn from his life.
Acts 2:14 tells us about Peter’s message on the day of Pentecost. “Then Peter stood up with the other eleven apostles. He spoke loudly so that all the people could hear. He said, ‘My Jewish brothers and all of you who live in Jerusalem, listen to me. I will tell
you something you need to know. Listen carefully.’” Then Peter quoted verses from the Old Testament. He also talked about Jesus dying on the cross and coming back to life. Finally, Peter challenged the people to repent and be baptized.
Peter had studied the Old Testament and knew God’s Word. He depended on this message to help him serve God better every day. You can do the same thing. Today we have both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Study them and learn God’s Word. Then you will be prepared to preach or teach God’s message to others. And when you have opportunities to share, depend on Bible verses to guide you.
