Traveling with Paul (2)

September 3

Luke is a man who often traveled with Paul. Colossians 4:14 tells us that Luke was a doctor. Luke traveled with Paul so that he could tell people about Jesus. He probably also took care of any physical problems that Paul had.

Luke also wrote the New Testament books of Luke and Acts. He wrote the book of Luke to tell about Jesus’ ministry, death and resurrection. Luke wrote Acts to tell about the
start of the church and the growth of Christianity. There are several sections in the book of Acts where Luke used the pronoun “we.” This shows us that at those times Luke was traveling with Paul.

Paul wrote two letters to a young Christian named Timothy. One time Paul asked Timothy to come see him. In 2 Timothy 4:11, Paul explained why he wanted Timothy to visit him. “Luke is the only one still with me. Get Mark and bring him with you when you come. He can help me in my work here.” This verse shows us that Luke was Paul’s good friend. Luke faithfully stayed with Paul and helped him in his travels.

Luke was a true servant and helper. You can be like Luke. Encourage and help your Christian friends. And don’t forget to pray for them, too!
