The Ten Commandments
The Third Commandment
Scripture: Exodus 20:7
In the book of Exodus, chapter 20, the Israelites, newly freed from slavery, are at the bottom of Mt. Sinai. Moses ascends the mountain and meets with God. God declares His intent to make a covenant with Moses and his people, and the 10 Commandments are the basis of this covenant relationship. His covenant calls them to loyalty, true worship, reverence, right relationship, respect for authority, life, purity, honesty, truthfulness, and contentment.
