Teaching from the Gospel accounts of Joseph’s life, Pastor Allen Jackson shows how Joseph was so much more than the supporting role we assign to him. Joseph chose to be obedient to God in the face of unimaginable circumstances. He chose to honor Mary privately and publicly, and he chose to honor God by sacrificing his own dreams and spending his life’s energy and resources to see His purposes fulfilled. We also have a tendency to see ourselves in minor roles, but there are no insignificant participants in God’s Kingdom.

Teaching on God’s invitations to Mary and Joseph, the first disciples, and Jesus, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the disruptions and rewards each faced by saying yes to Him. He then challenges us to evaluate our life’s direction by considering if we are focusing on worldly success by pursuing our plans and purposes or eternal significance by pursuing the things of the Kingdom of God. Finally, he reminds us that if we choose to invest our lives in God’s Kingdom, we will be rewarded for it.

Why do you suppose the heavenly hosts broke into praise at Jesus’ birth? Jesus’ arrival certainly was at the heart of the story. But God’s purposes for human beings had broken into the open in a whole new way, and the heavenly hosts could not contain themselves. It had to be celebrated! Pastor Allen Jackson teaches that Jesus came on the ultimate rescue mission, and at Christmas we are celebrating the unmatched generosity of God to offer up His Son to deliver us from a place from which we could not deliver ourselves.
