Genealogies in the Bible. Most people think they are boring to read so they pass right over them. But they are actually fascinating to see how God preserved the lineage from Adam to Abraham and then to Jesus. But in the Gospel of Matthew and Luke there are two different genealogies for Jesus seem contradictory. What is that all about?

The Jewish religious Pharisees were shocked when John the Baptist told them to repent. They were like – what? Repent from what? We are doing everything right. We fast.  We pray.  We tithe. What’s the problem? They had no concept of what God was looking for. Join us today to see what the difference between remorse and repentance looks like!

God Uses UNLIKELY People In The Most AMAZING Ways

March 30, 2024 • Lisa Laizure • Luke 2:52—3:9

God can use anyone and when He needs something done He often uses the most unlikely people in the most amazing ways! Today we will see that as John the Baptist steps on the scene. This is a man who yells and is rude to the religious leaders of his day. A man who dresses like he is homeless and who eats bugs. But this is a reminder that God can use anyone -even someone like that to fulfill His purpose. Join us as we continue in Luke.

God Can Use Even WICKED Political Leaders.

March 23, 2024 • Lisa Laizure • Luke 2:39–52

Today we will see how God can use wicked political leaders for His own purpose. Then we will ask this question: Have you ever accidentally lost your child? Mary and Joseph did that with Jesus when he was 12. Today we will talk about those things as we continue in Luke.

Never Give Up

March 15, 2024 • Lisa Laizure • Luke 2:21–40

Imagine God telling you that you are to wait for one specific thing to happen and He asks you to wait for it. So you wait. And you wait. And now you are getting old but you really do believe God, so you continue to wait. Today we will meet a man named Simeon who was told by God that he would not die until he saw Jesus, but he would have to wait. And then one day at the temple a young woman walks in with a baby and Simeon knows that with this baby – his waiting was over. Join us today to see the importance of never giving up.

Why the Angels Came to LOWLY SHEPHERDS

March 9, 2024 • Lisa Laizure • Luke 2:6–21

When Jesus was born the angels didn’t show up to the religious elite. They didn’t show up to announce the birth of Jesus in a fancy stadium filled with people. They didn’t show up where there was noise and commotion. They showed up in a quiet field where undistracted Shepherds were watching over their flocks. Join us today as we see why we should strive to look more like Shepherds than religious elite.

Joseph’s Dilemma – Should he stay with Mary?

March 2, 2024 • Lisa Laizure • Luke 2:1–5

Following Jesus can be difficult especially when we begin to take our faith seriously. We can lose friends when we don’t want to do what they do anymore. We can get fired for refusing to lie for our boss. We don’t get those invitations anymore because nobody wants to hear us talk about Jesus. Today we will see how this plays out for Mary and Joseph as Joseph has a decision to make: Care more about what God thinks or care more about what others think. Join us as we continue through Luke today.

How SURRENDER Conquers FEAR

February 3, 2024 • Lisa Laizure • Luke 1:26–38

Fear.  A natural response to a perceived threat. We have all felt it and Mary the mother of Jesus was just as susceptible to fear especially when she heard she would be the mother of the long-awaited Messiah. But for Mary, she handled her fear differently. She surrendered her will to God’s will and that might be the best cure for fear known to man.
