Should We Expect God to Intervene?

Better Than Miracles

March 1, 2015 • Jeff Lyle

In the last of eight messages dealing with the supernatural, miraculous work of God in the 21st Century Church, we now come to a gentle reminder from Christ to His followers. Though we have been granted authority and power over the dominion of darkness via our union with Christ, Jesus wants us to remember that the object of our rejoicing is not our victory over opposition. Our rejoicing is not in what we give but, rather, in what we receive. It is not what comes out of us in power but what has been deposited within us by grace – this is to remain our reason for rejoicing. May the listener become more informed about the activity of the enemy, more emboldened in spiritual warfare and more Gospel focused as we move together into the fullness of our inheritance in Jesus Christ.

When the Spirit Leads

Someone or something is leading you through all the days of your life. For Christians it is presumed that we are following Jesus Christ. But how are we doing so? Jesus is seated in Heaven and no longer walking the planet. We certainly have the treasure of the Scriptures which serve to illuminate our life-path. Yet there are scores of issues, decisions and needs which God’s Word does not specifically address – whom do we follow when deciding what to do in these areas? Jesus left earth and sent the Holy Spirit. Among other things, Jesus declared that the Holy Spirit would GUIDE us. This message gives us a snapshot of what it looks like to hear, obey and follow the instruction of God the Spirit. The outcome is one of supernatural movement and inward joy.

Miracle Territory

February 15, 2015 • Jeff Lyle

This message reveals what occurs when Christians call out to God in the midst of impossibility. There is a line of thinking and theology that can be summarized like this: God created everything, set it in motion and took His hands off to watch what would happen. For those who believe the Scriptures, this idea is impossible. God desires to be with human beings. He does not observe us as a scientist or move us around as inanimate puppets. God loves interaction with His people and often chooses to intervene in the affairs of humankind. Sometimes, He moves swiftly and decisively in proportion to our prayers. When time has run out, when options have been removed and when power has been taken away from us… we have been placed in miracle territory.

Do We Really Believe This Stuff?

February 8, 2015 • Jeff Lyle

One of the most undermining possibilities in the Christian’s life is to believe a doctrine but fail to appropriate it. A head-knowledge of theology will never produce a life of victory. We must not only give intellectual assent to what the Scripture says but we must also incorporate truth into our lives. This holy principle is essential when it comes to the issue of spiritual warfare. Knowing that Satan and his demons are active, evil and strategic is not enough. We must engage in this fight as it is clear in Scripture that the enemy has placed a bullseye on every single child of God. This message addresses the realm of the supernatural, placing particular emphasis on the activity of Satan and his demons. What are you doing to combat his assault on your life? How are you protecting those for whom you are responsible? Might it be that you are opening the door to the thief? Listen and be sobered. Listen and be intentional. Find out if we really believe this stuff. If we do, we will appropriate it as a crucial part of our Christian journey.

Miracles: Powers & Pitfalls

January 25, 2015 • Jeff Lyle

Satan has never had an original thought. His entire purpose is to undermine the purposes of God and he operates chiefly through creating a counterfeit to anything genuine done by God. Satan is a liar from the beginning, yet he masquerades as a messenger of light. Because of this we should not be surprised that he and those who do his bidding will traffic in the arena of the supernatural. This message exposes the reality that not everything that is miraculous and supernatural comes from God. Yes, there is power in abundance when it comes to the issue of miracles ... but there are also many pitfalls that we must be aware of.

An Undeniable, Irrefutable Miracle

January 18, 2015 • Jeff Lyle

For many people in the Body of Christ the issue of whether or not God continues to physically heal is not a novel curiosity to be investigated and debated. For many, it is a life or death issue. This message welcomes the listener to consider his or her views on healing and then to see first-hand in Acts 3 what miraculous healing looks like. This message highlights how God used healing in the first-century church and how He still uses it today. The act of healing is eternally linked to God’s self-revelation (Exodus 15:26-27) so we do well to consider that God has not quit the healing ministry. Jesus compared Himself to a physician and constantly healed the sick and afflicted. Might He desire to do so today through His followers? This message helps us to see that the answer is Yes.

The Existing Tension

January 11, 2015 • Jeff Lyle

Sensing a growing need to clarify what the Bible says about miracles and supernatural experiences, this message opens up a series which aims to help us to learn from Scripture whether or not modern-day Christians should seek God for beyond-the-natural living. Moving from passage to passage in the New Testament, Jeff Lyle, leads the listener through both sides of the argument concerning whether or not the miraculous is available and active today. In the end, there is a clear and undebatable call to unity in the Body of Christ even while many hold differing and strong views on this important issue. Examine the existing tension between believing or not believing in the miraculous.
