One of the things that brought Paul joy was seeing the people he impact grow spiritually. In Philippians Chapter 2, Paul expresses this and shares basic spiritual principles for us to apply to our lives: Be Humble, be Intentional, and be Effective.

Joy & Prison

In the Bible, Paul spoke about the things that brought him joy. The amazing thing is Paul wrote about joy while being in prison, a place where you would expect him to express less joy. Joy means delight or pleasure. Paul found delight in knowing that God was using his imprisonment to reach people for the gospel. Sometimes, we are in places that feel like a prison (employment, residence, school, relationships). We look forward for the day that we will be released. The amazing thing is, yes one day you will be released! The question is what will we do during our time there? Since nothing lasts forever, we can leverage our “prison” opportunity to reach others and make a difference.
