We live in a time where only the most committed Christians are continuing with the work of the Church. Many are slipping into listless lifestyles with little visible connection to the Kingdom. The biblical definition of sloth is different than the more modern English term of laziness. A translation of the Latin term acedia, it means to be indifferent to our duties and obligations to God. Skyrocking murder, domestic violence, and rioting are all signs of growing anger in our society. Even more troubling is the burgeoning quiet anger amongst many of our law-abiding citizens who are frustrated with the injustice they find in our public and private institutions. The Bible teaches that "the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:20) so believers can't allow themselves to be infected with the anger in the world.
