The Gospel Of Matthew

Inviting the Unlikely to Do the Unexpected

March 26, 2023 • Austin Nesvacil • Matthew 4:12–25

In this video, we explore the unexpected aspects of Jesus' ministry as outlined in Matthew 4:12-25. Jesus went to Galilee, a region considered less significant at the time, to start his ministry. He also preached a message that was not new, but rather a call back to the foundational teachings of John The Baptist. What's more, Jesus spent his time serving the needy and overlooked rather than the noteworthy and powerful. Through these unexpected choices, Jesus invited the unlikely to become his followers and do the unexpected in their own lives. This message challenges us to consider how we can follow Jesus' example by reaching out to those who are often overlooked and marginalized in our communities. Join us in exploring these unexpected aspects of Jesus' ministry and how we can apply them to our own lives today.

The Baptism of Jesus: Significance and Meaning for Us

March 12, 2023 • Brannen Padgett • Matthew 3:13–17

In his sermon on Matthew 3:13-17, Pastor Brannen explains the significance of Jesus' baptism. He highlights that Jesus' baptism foreshadows His death and resurrection, provides an example for us to follow, and identifies Him with us. The baptism represents a death to His old self and a resurrection to a new life, and it is a public declaration of His mission. Additionally, Jesus' baptism teaches us that baptism is a crucial step in our faith journey, as it symbolizes our death to sin and our new life in Christ. Lastly, Jesus identifies Himself with sinners by being baptized, demonstrating that He came to save all people and empathize with our struggles and temptations.

A Call To Repentance

March 5, 2023 • Brannen Padgett • Matthew 3:1–12

In Matthew 3:1-12, John the Baptist urges people to prepare their hearts for the coming of Jesus Christ by repenting of their sins. Repentance involves confessing our sins to God, turning away from our old ways, and making a commitment to follow Jesus. As we repent and turn to Jesus, we are called to contribute to the work of the Gospel by sharing the message of Christ with others, serving in our local church, or supporting Christian ministries. The passage is a reminder that our lives are meant to be transformed by the power of Christ, and that we are called to share His message with others.
