Pastor Glen drew a powerful analogy between the way a mother eagle prepares her nest and the hard decisions made by Joseph and Mary. He explained that the mother eagle intentionally builds her nest in a way that encourages the baby eaglets to leave and learn to fend for themselves. Similarly, Joseph and Mary had to make difficult choices in their journey, such as fleeing to Egypt to protect baby Jesus from King Herod's wrath.
