The Greatest Gift Of All

One of the themes of Christmas is gift giving. In addition to all the lights and festivities the giving of gifts is a special part of the celebration. There is a certain joy in giving a gift and seeing the person excited about receiving it. It is also a joy in receiving a gift from someone you know cares about you. It’s true Christmas has become commercialized but the exchange of gifts is a great reminder of the greatest gift of all which was wrapped in a blanket and laid in a manger on that very first Christmas. The baby Jesus was God’s gift to us!

A Christmas Revelation

Today is one week before Christmas 2016. Undoubtedly you’ve been hearing many ideas about the “true meaning” of Christmas for several weeks. This morning I want us to understand Christmas from a Biblical perspective, but more than Biblical, but what I am calling a Biblically cosmic perspective. What I mean by this is; I want us to consider Christmas in relation to the meaning and purpose of the existence of the universe, most especially the existence of the human race. That is to say to see Christmas as a revelation into understanding our world, the human experience and the cosmic plan of God.
